Jon Stewart and John Holdren versus the House Pseudoscience Committee

Wow, is this good. I started to watch it the other day and had a connection problem so I only just got around to viewing it. (Thanks to my brother Tom for recommending it, by the way.)

In just a few minutes, Stewart exposes astonishing ignorance on the part of multiple members of the U.S. House Committee on Science, Space, and Technology. It helps that he’s also able to quote the testimony of White House Science Adviser John Holdren, a competent scientist who shows remarkable restraint in responding to unbelievably stupid questions.

For more commentary on this segment from Comedy Central’s The Daily Show, see this blog post from astronomer Phil Plait, who observes for a start, “It’s become a cliché that majority members of the House Science Committee know nothing at all about actual science (or they do, but choose to ignore it for ideological reasons) — but here on display for all to see is just how ridiculous the reality of it is.”
