A demonstration of YouTube’s automated captioning

YouTube now offers automated captioning, but it isn’t quite perfect yet.

Here a couple of guys show a short comic film that’s manually captioned with the actual dialog, followed by a second version with the script altered to what YouTube thought they were saying the first time. You might suppose that YouTube would have better luck transcribing that one, but apparently not, because they show a third version based on the automatic transcription of the second film, and it’s if anything even more surreal.

Comments are moderated, which can take up to a day (rarely even two), so please be patient. I welcome agreement, disagreement, and corrections on anything from substance to spelling. I try to weed out spam and anything defamatory or pointlessly insulting (to anybody), unless of course I think it's really funny.
