Here’s something I found on my brother Tom’s blog posted August 13. Don’t worry: Despite where you think the story is going, it is not depressing.

Well, actually, one piece of the story is depressing, or maybe the right word is infuriating. Being impoverished by medical expenses is something that happens in the United States and almost nowhere else in the developed world. The Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act — what some call “Obamacare” — will help when it comes fully into effect in a few years, but even it could have been a lot better.
