The devastation in Japan and elsewhere is horrible. This BBC television report showing footage shot from a helicopter captures the scale of what happened in one area more clearly than anything else I’ve seen. A vast amount of water and mud pushes buildings and vehicles and at least one ship across farmland a fair distance inland from the Japanese coast. The altitude is too great to see people, or watching this would not be bearable.
