Malala Yousafzai awes Jon Stewart

Near the end of this Jon Stewart is briefly speechless:

If you’re somehow not familiar with her, Malala Yousafzai is a student from Pakistan who became upset at the Taliban for interfering with education for girls and started speaking out, which led to her being shot in the head by an assassin at the age of 14. She nearly died but was stabilized in Pakistani military hospital then flown to one of the best medical facilities in the world at Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Birmingham, England (part of the British National Health Service), where she made an astonishing recovery.

You can find my previous posts about her here.

At one point in the clip she uses the term “talib,” which is much less familiar than the plural form “taliban.” “Talib” is a word for “student” in Pashto, a major language in Afghanistan, where the fundamentalist Taliban movement got started.
