Evil television prank

I’m surprised the prank shown below didn’t result in a more extreme reaction and maybe spilled blood. It might have something to do with the fact that Just for Laughs, the show I think it’s from, is based in Canada (specifically Montreal and elsewhere in Québec) not the U.S.

Incidentally, there’s a scene in one of the Thin Man movies (After the Thin Man, I think) in which Nora Charles (Myrna Loy) walks in on her husband Nick (William Powell) holding a young woman in his arms. In fact, he’s holding her because she’s distraught, but Nora doesn’t know that. But when Nick silently signals her that she should not interrupt, Nora nods and backs out of the room, closing the door. That’s a sign of a nice relationship.
